Check Out These New XCOM 2 "Small Town" Screenshots
Firaxis Games has shared some new images from its upcoming turn-based tactical action game, XCOM 2. The
focus of the latest reveal is the game's "Small Town" areas, which
feature residential neighborhoods and commercial businesses. The people
who live here generally have not "bought into the promise" of the game's
City Centers, Firaxis said in this blog post.
"Small
Town settings are suburban settlements just outside of the sprawling
Advent City Centers and are best described as havens for folks looking
to live like they did before the arrival of the aliens," it added.
"XCOM's goal is to protect these people by going after Advent here."
As
you'll see in the images, the towns are set about with propaganda
billboards, while soldiers working for Advent keep watch on the streets.
"Crumbling churches and quaint diners offer citizens a taste of the
freedom they once had," Firaxis said. "These Small Towns also offer XCOM
a stark reminder of what we're all fighting for: our home."
XCOM 2 was announced back in June and is slated to arrive only on PC when it launches in February 2016. It's possible the game will come to consoles sometime down the road, but this has not been decided.
The
sequel "transports players 20 years into the future, where humanity
lost the war against the alien threat that has established a new world
order." For more, check out GameSpot's in-depth reveal report.
